The M1 Timepiece stands out in the world of watches with its unique properties. Eschewing traditional hands, the M1 uses dual-layered discs to display time, a design choice that reflects the modern trend of wearing watches more for fashion than utility. The timepiece's minimalist dial displays time in 15-minute increments, mirroring the casual way people often tell time. The discs are positioned directly under the edge-to-edge crystal, creating an illusion that the time is displayed right on the crystal's surface.
The M1 Timepiece is not just a marvel of design, but also of technology. It is powered by a Swiss Sellita SW200-1 automatic movement, with a power reserve of 38 hours. The watch is made of sapphire crystal, stainless steel, and genuine leather, and is water-resistant up to 3atm. The case dimensions are 44 mm x 13 mm, with a 22 mm hidden lug width and a 22 mm wide tapered leather strap.
Creating the M1 Timepiece was a journey of over a year of research, design, refinement, and development. The design process was guided by the desire to create a unique timepiece without the need for an in-house movement, which can be costly and time-consuming to develop. Instead, the design was built around a robust, popular, Swiss automatic movement. The biggest challenge was positioning the display discs as close to the underside of the crystal as possible, a feat achieved through collaboration with Swiss manufacturers and suppliers.
The M1 Timepiece is a testament to RVNDSGN's commitment to innovative design and quality. It was awarded Silver in the A' Jewelry, Eyewear and Watch Design Award in 2018, a prestigious recognition given to designs that demonstrate outstanding expertise and innovation. The M1 Timepiece is not just a watch, but a statement of style and a celebration of innovation.
